Appleton Farm Ham Cooking Instructions

Aldi is advertising their Appleton Farms Spiral-Sliced Double-Glazed Brown Sugar Ham this week at 2.69 a pound. The honey ham is also being spotted in stores but this same type of cooking method works for both type of hams. Just in time for Thanksgiving! If you don't cook turkey for Thanksgiving a ham is always a great alternative. This ham is also available around Christmas and Easter and it is not an everyday find. If you’re looking for a cheap ham to get that still tastes good try ham out.

How Long to Cook Appleton Farm’s Spiral Sliced Double Glazed Ham 

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. 

Remove the ham from the packaging and set it face down in a roasting pan or on a baking sheet. 

Bake the ham for 12 to 15 minutes per pound. So, if the ham is 12 pounds you bake it in the oven for 120 minutes. 

If you wish to glaze the ham, follow the instructions on the packaging 30 minutes before the ham is already done baking. 

Smoked Appleton Farm Ham

I put my ham on my Traeger Smoker. Cooked the ham at 300 til it reached 130 degrees for an internal temp and then I made a glaze of orange marmalade and brown sugar. Brush the glaze on the ham and cook a little longer until the internal temperature reaches 140-145. Sooooo good!

Ham is cooked at 350 degrees and takes 10 to 12 minutes per pound. Every ham at the store weighs something different so you will have to adjust the cooking time accordingly. 

Do I need foil to cook my ham in the oven? 

Ham is best reheated low and slow, and heating it uncovered means that the moisture in the ham evaporates, leaving it dry and unappetizing. The foil helps keep the moisture trapped inside the ham.
